The majority of people at work are not engaged i.e. they are not utilizing the full potential of their hands (what they do), their heads (how they create) and their hearts (how they give and care to others, including customers). The 20% who are engaged are giving all of who they are to their work. They are both being well and doing well; they are deeply connected to their work, to their colleagues and to the organisation. We call these people Contributors and they are worth their weight in gold to their organisations.

Contributors work for managers who take the time to identify their natural talents and help them to be more of whom they really are; which correlates to working to their natural talents for most of the time. Great managers release strengths in individual team members (they capitalise on differences) and align these strengths, making weaknesses irrelevant. They don't waste energy on developing weaknesses or areas of non-talent but rather build on the best that is already there.
